Gurugram Cyber Crime: The cyber crime team of Gurugram Police has busted a fake international call center, which was operating from Sector 67 area. Seven people have been arrested in this connection. It is alleged that they used to cheat foreign nationals in the name of technical assistance. They mostly targeted foreign nationals in Australia and the US by sending fake emails posing as technical support representatives of PayPal, Amazon and Norton, an official said on Friday.
Those arrested have been identified as Mohd Zafar Iqbal (38), Noor Hussain (28), Sumit (32), Abhishek Mishra (30), Sheikh Ibrahim (28), Abhishek Gupta (35) and Mohd Adil (32). ACP (Cyber Crime) Vipin Ahlawat said, all the suspects have been arrested on charges framed under relevant sections of the IPC for illegally running a call center without any valid license.

The accused told during interrogation that they used to get the data of citizens of USA and Australia through Telegram app. On the other hand, PayPal, Norton, Amazon used to send toll free numbers through email to four to five thousand foreigners daily to give refund of unauthorized charges. When the customer used to call the toll free number, access to his computer was taken by downloading the Anydesk app on his computer.
At the same time, the amount in their bank accounts was shown to be increased by darkening their computer screen. In the name of this service, they used to cheat in the name of charging 250-300 dollars through gift / bit coin. At the same time, by misleading the customers, they used to note down their numbers by getting them to buy gift cards of Apple, Google Play, Target and eBay. He used to get these gift cards redeemed in China from his acquaintances.
