According to the information received from the health department of BMC, in the year 2022, more than 78 thousand people were injured due to dog bites. According to BMC, dog bite cases have increased rapidly after the lockdown.

Doctor and Professor Santosh Tripathi told ABP News that usually people get scared of dogs or do not behave properly. For this reason dogs attack. He advised people that if a dog bites, then first of all wash that wound with clean water 10 to 12 times. If scratches are more then 5 injections of anti rabies are given. There is also a precautionary dose of anti-rabies which is also applied before.

Regarding the increasing dog attacks, he told ABP News that the way humans were troubled during the lockdown, in the same way dogs were also troubled. This change has created fear in them. His NGO does the work of sterilization and vaccination of dogs every month. He himself does sterilization and vaccination of up to 180 dogs and cats every month.
In this case, a BMC official gave off-the-record information about the sterilization done in the last 5 years. The official said that BMC has continued the campaign of sterilization and vaccination in collaboration with 6 NGOs. The last time dogs and cats were counted in Mumbai city was in 2014.
