‘Congress alone cannot win elections, it is still long…’, said General Secretary KC Venugopal

KC Venugopal on Lok Sabha Election 2024: Senior Congress leader and general secretary in-charge KC Venugopal said that a new Congress has been born after the Bharat Jodo Yatra. He said that the Congress leadership today is the advisor of the party. The role of Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi is only to provide inputs and the final decision is taken by Mallikarjun Kharge.

KC Venugopal while talking about the historic victory of Congress in Karnataka at India Today Conclave South 2023 said that there is a perception in this country that BJP is invincible and Congress cannot win any election. PM Modi was campaigning in the state 10 days before the elections. In such a situation, all television channels were talking about PM Modi’s road shows, his public meetings. Congress did not get any place on TV, but in spite of this we won.

67 candidates were raided
The Rajya Sabha MP told that during the elections 67 candidates of Congress were raided. He said that in Karnataka, we not only fought against BJP, we fought against these federal agencies. In such a situation, winning Karnataka was a big boost not only for the Congress but also for the democratic forces of this country. When asked about the upcoming assembly elections, KC Venugopal said that the party knows that it alone cannot defeat the BJP.

‘Congress alone cannot do…’

KC Venugopal said, we need to travel a very long way to reach the victory of 2024 and we also know that Congress cannot do it alone. We need the support of all like-minded opposition parties, but it is wrong to think that BJP cannot be defeated in North India. Himachal is one of the biggest examples.Venugopal said that our victory in Karnataka and performance in the upcoming elections is the result of Rahul Gandhi’s Bharat Jodo Yatra. The narrative we tried to put in Karnataka was poor versus rich.
