Delhi Excise Case: The Delhi High Court on Saturday (June 3) sought a report from LNJP Hospital on the health condition of the ailing wife of AAP leader and former deputy CM Manish Sisodia. Arrested in Delhi’s Excise Policy scam case, Sisodia has sought interim bail for six weeks. On which the court reserved its order. The Delhi High Court on Friday allowed Sisodia, arrested in a money laundering case related to alleged irregularities in the Delhi Excise Policy, to meet his ailing wife.
Manish Sisodia came out of jail on bail for 7 hours on Saturday. His lawyer Mohit Mathur told the court that as per the court’s instructions, Manish Sisodia reached his residence from Tihar Jail on Saturday to meet his ailing wife after getting interim relief from the court. However, before reaching his home, due to deteriorating health of his wife Seema, he had to be admitted to the hospital and he could not meet his wife.
Sisodia reached Tihar again
The lawyer said that the former Deputy Chief Minister has been sent to Tihar Jail again. Sisodia’s lawyer urged for bail, saying that there is no one to take care of his wife. On this, the court said that after hearing the arguments, the order has been reserved. A report on the health condition of his wife should be called from LNJP and filed by today evening. The court on Friday directed the Tihar Jail Superintendent to take Manish Sisodia to his residence, where he was allowed to meet his ailing wife from 10 am to 5 pm.
ED opposes bail
Manish Sisodia’s bail was opposed by ED. Manish Sisodia was arrested by the CBI on February 26 for his alleged role in the excise scam and has been in custody since then. On May 30, the High Court refused to grant him bail in the CBI case. Sisodia was arrested on March 9 in a case registered by the ED and is currently in judicial custody.
