The government took strict steps regarding the rising price of Arhar and Urad Dal, people will be benefited


Toor and Urad Dal Price: For some time, a jump in the prices of pulses is being seen. Especially the prices of pulses like Arhar and Urad are increasing. Now the government has taken a special step to curb their rising prices. The central government hopes that this will benefit the common people.

The Central Government on Friday itself imposed stock limits on Arhar and Urad dal kept with wholesalers, retailers, importers and millers till October. This means that hoarding will be less, due to which the prices of Arhar and Urad may fall or the prices may remain stable.

How much the prices of Arhar and Urad have increased

An order in this regard was issued by the Union Ministry of Food and Consumer Affairs with immediate effect to curb hoarding. Let us tell you that on Friday, the average retail price of Arhar increased by 19 percent to Rs 122.68 per kg, which was Rs 103.25 per kg a year ago. On the other hand, the average retail price of urad has increased by 5.26 per cent from Rs 105.05 to Rs 110.58 per kg.

Stock Limit for Retail Sellers

According to a PTI report, Consumer Affairs Secretary Rohit Kumar Singh said that stock limits have been fixed for Arhar and Urad for all states and union territories till October 31, 2023. According to the order, the stock limit of tur and urad has been fixed at 200 tonnes for wholesalers, five tonnes for retailers and retail shoppers and 200 tonnes at depots for large retailers.

Asked to upload stock limit on portal

In case of millers, the stock limit will be for the last three months of production or 25 per cent of the annual installed capacity, an official statement said. While the importers are not allowed to keep the stock for more than 30 days from the date of customs clearance. The Ministry has asked the Department of Consumer Affairs to upload the status of the stock limit on the portal (https://fcainfoweb.nic.in/psp).

Production of pulses estimated to decrease

According to the statistics of the Agriculture Department, the country’s Arhar production is estimated to be 3.43 million tonnes in the session 2022-23 July-June as compared to 4.22 million tonnes in the previous year. On the other hand, the production of urad is estimated to decrease from 2.77 million tonnes to 2.61 million tonnes.
