Odisha Train Accident: In the train accident that took place on Friday (June 7) in Balasore, Odisha, the Railway Board has now held a press conference and said that the accident happened due to a problem in signalling. So far 288 people have lost their lives in this accident, while more than one thousand people have been injured.
Railway Board member Jaya Verma Sinha described the picture of the incident. He told, the Coronmandal Express had received the green signal to leave Bahanaga station. The speed of this train is 130 km per hour and during the accident it was running at a speed of 128 which clearly shows that it is not a case of over speeding. Initial investigation revealed that there was a problem in signalling. Due to the green signal, she was running at her own speed and collided with the goods train standing in the loop line. The speed was so fast that the engine of the train rammed the compartment of Magaladi.
Coromandel Express collided with the last two bogies of Yesvantpur Express
Jai Verma further said, the goods train did not derail because the goods train was carrying iron ore, so the Coromandel Express suffered the most. It is the cause of a large number of deaths and injuries. The derailed coaches of the Coromandel Express came on the down line and collided with the last two coaches of the Yesvantpur Express, which was crossing the down line at a speed of 126 km/h.
