Last year, in Patratu of Ramgarh district, a girl named Chanchal Kumari, along with her lover, killed her younger brother Rohit and buried the body in the same quarter where she lived alone. After several weeks, the police revealed this incident. In fact, such incidents of bloodshed in the passion of love and hatred have become common in Jharkhand. What did the police say in such cases?

The criminals who plan such crimes while sitting inside the four walls of the house are not professionals so that they can be prevented from committing crimes by keeping them under the surveillance of the police. The reasons for this should be sought somewhere in the decline in social, family and moral values and their solution can also be found there. It is definitely the responsibility of the police to gather evidence in such cases with scientific investigation and prepare strong chargesheets and diaries and show readiness to punish them strictly from the courts. If the practice of speedy trial and strict punishment is developed in such crimes, then it will definitely create a fear among the criminals.

What does psychology have to say?

Dr. Dharmendra Kumar, lecturer and counselor of psychology at Jharkhand’s Kolhan University, says that one of the major reasons for the ongoing trend of such incidents is personality and mental disorders arising out of today’s complicated lifestyle. The way anger, and impractical aspirations are dominating the youth and teenagers, the results are coming in front of us in the form of such incidents.
