600 intelligence officers from 49 countries from all over the world came under one roof in Singapore, Russia remained absent


Shangri-La Dialogue conclave: Nearly two dozen senior officials from the world’s leading intelligence agencies have held a secret meeting on the sidelines of the Shangri-La Dialogue security meeting in Singapore this weekend. Five people associated with this meeting have given information. Officials from 49 countries including Australia, India, America, China, Britain, Japan, Canada, Indonesia and South Korea participated in the meeting. A total of more than 600 officers participated in this meeting.

Officials associated with intelligence agencies said that such meetings are organized by the Singapore government. For many years, the security summit is organized in different places of the world. However, this time the information about the meeting was not given earlier.

The US was represented by Avril Haines, Director of National Intelligence, head of his country’s intelligence community. An Indian source said that Samant Goyal, head of the Research and Analysis Wing, India’s foreign intelligence gathering agency, also participated. The official said that the meeting was based on the international agenda. The purpose of this ceremony was to create a deep understanding between mutual countries and to promote each other in the field of intelligence.

There is a conversation between the intelligence agencies under the code. If it becomes difficult to discuss any diplomatic issue, then intelligence agencies come in handy at that time. The people involved in the intelligence meeting refused to make their names public.

Shangri-La Talks in Singapore

A spokesperson for the Singapore Defense Ministry said participants, including senior officials from intelligence agencies, also get an opportunity to meet their counterparts while attending the Shangri-La talks. The Singapore Ministry of Defense facilitates some of these bilateral or multilateral meetings. The participants in the intelligence meeting have described such meetings as beneficial.

The US Embassy in Singapore said it had no information about the meeting. However, the Chinese and Indian governments did not immediately respond to requests for comment. No official of Russia attended this meeting. Ukraine’s deputy defense minister, Volodymyr V. Havrylov, was involved in the Shangri-La talks.
