Ajit Pawar hints to NCP ticket aspirants in 2024- ‘Whose chances of victory are most…’

Loksabha Election 2024: Senior NCP leader Ajit Pawar on Monday said merit will be taken into account while allotting tickets to candidates in the next Lok Sabha elections. He said that the candidates will be selected on the basis of ‘probability of victory’. Along with this, he also spoke on the Shirur Lok Sabha seat. He said that a decision will be taken after discussing with senior leaders on the Shirur Lok Sabha seat, which is currently represented by NCP leader Amol Kolhe. There is a fight going on between NCP leaders Vilas Lande and Amol Kolhe to stake claim for this seat in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections.

Kolhe had won the election on this seat in 2019.
In the 2019 elections, Kolhe defeated Shivajirao Adhalrao Patil, the Shiv Sena candidate contesting in alliance with the BJP on this seat. After breaking ties with the BJP in the last assembly elections, the Shiv Sena formed the Maha Vikas Aghadi alliance with the NCP and the Congress. Pawar told reporters about the review meeting in which preparations for a public rally to be held in Ahmednagar on June 9, the party’s foundation day, were discussed. Ajit Pawar said that tickets will be given to the candidates in the Lok Sabha elections only on the basis of merit.

What did Pawar say when BJP termed the OBC cell conference as a gimmick?
On the other hand, when Maharashtra BJP chief Chandrashekhar Bawankule termed the conference of OBC cell of NCP as a gimmick, Pawar said that the opponents of NCP cannot be expected to speak well about the party. He said that it was the MVA which approached the Supreme Court regarding OBC reservation.

‘They don’t want to give representation to women in the cabinet’
Pawar targeted the coalition government of the state regarding cabinet expansion. He said that although it is the prerogative of the state government, they must be thinking that the cabinet of 20 ministers is doing a good job, they must be finding it appropriate not to give representation to women in the cabinet. Let us tell you that on August 9 last year, 18 ministers were inducted in the BJP-Shinde government, while according to the rules, the Council of Ministers can have a maximum of 43 members.
