Abhishek Banerjee on ED: Trinamool Congress leader Abhishek Banerjee on Monday (June 5) accused the Center of harassing his family. He said that this is being done so that he can be prevented from doing public relations before the West Bengal assembly elections. While doing PC in Hooghly district, Abhishek Banerjee challenged the Enforcement Directorate (ED) that the agency should arrest him or his wife. His wife Rujira Banerjee was stopped from boarding a UAE flight on Monday.
Abhishek Banerjee further said, “Even if I, my wife, children are arrested, I will not surrender. I will not become Delhi’s pet. I will not bow before anyone except the public.” He said that the central agency was informed to go abroad on the 3rd, but today it was done at the airport, which means there is something wrong somewhere in between. My wife has not been called for questioning for the last 12 months, so why suddenly today?
‘Want to stop my PR campaign’
He alleged that the ED has summoned my wife because they (BJP) want to stop my public relations campaign. BJP is worried about the public support they get during the campaign and hence they are harassing my family. BJP does not have the power to stop me. They are doing politics with ED, CBI. Abhishek has been traveling statewide since April under the name ‘Trinamool Nabojwar’ (Trinamool New Wave).
‘I challenge Amit Shah’
The TMC leader said, “Can’t fight me, that’s why you are troubling my wife and children. You are doing politics with ED, CBI, I am doing politics with people. Let ED arrest and see that.” There is so much power in this. I challenge Amit Shah. Arrest him if possible. I will not bow down to the traitors of Delhi.”
He said, “The biggest beneficiary in the SSC scam is Subhendu Adhikari. Can you show me the two grams of gold recovered from my wife? Actually, the investigation is not correct. How can Subhendu Adhikari be informed about the number of times I have gone out?” If there is a lookout notice then how can my wife go out with me during my surgery. Now a new dispute is going on so this incident has happened to harass.”

Abhishek, the nephew of West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, claimed that the ED’s detention of his wife from flying abroad was in violation of the Supreme Court’s order, which said there was no bar on the couple’s travel abroad. The Trinamool Congress MP said that he would approach the court against the violation of the Supreme Court order.
