Wrestlers On Farmers Protest: Wrestlers have expressed their displeasure while protesting against the arrest of farmers protesting in Haryana. Female wrestler Sakshi Malik tweeted on Wednesday (June 7), “The farmers had only asked for MSP for their crops, but the brutal system gave them lathis and arrests. We condemn the arrest of farmer leader Gurnam Singh Chadhuni.” He should be released soon. The news of the farmer who was martyred in the movement has brought tears to my eyes.

In Haryana, farmers demanding purchase of sunflower seeds at MSP blocked the national highway in Kurukshetra on Tuesday. After which nine leaders including Gurnam Singh Chadhuni, president of the Bharatiya Kisan Union (Chadhuni) were arrested on Wednesday (June 7).

Vinesh Phogat tweeted

Protesting the arrest of farmers, wrestler Vinesh Phogat tweeted, “The news of the arrest of farmer leader Gurmam Chadhuni is very disappointing. Brijbhushan should have been arrested, but he was arrested who demanded MSP for his crop.” The oppressor is roaming free, but the turbans of our farmers are being trampled under the boots of the police.”

Significantly, the wrestlers are protesting demanding the arrest of the outgoing president of the Wrestling Federation of India and BJP MP Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh. Women wrestlers have accused Brij Bhushan Singh of sexual harassment.

Rakesh Tikait also came in support

Bharatiya Kisan Union leader Rakesh Tikait also reached Shahbad in Kurukshetra on Wednesday and warned that if the administration failed to release Chadhuni and others, the national highway would be blocked again. Rakesh Tikait said on Wednesday that a bigger movement than the movement against the agricultural laws that have now been repealed will have to be started for legal guarantees on the minimum support price.
