Hajj Yatra 2023: The first batch of Haj pilgrims left Kashmir’s capital Srinagar on Wednesday, June 7, for the pilgrimage to the holy cities of Mecca and Medina. More than 14 thousand Muslims of this region started their spiritual journey directly from Srinagar International Airport to Jeddah. Amidst fervor and prayers, the pilgrims were seen off at the airport by their relatives. During this, the Haj pilgrims looked very excited. Families, friends and well-wishers gathered at the Haj House in Bemina area of ​​Srinagar to bid farewell to the pilgrims.

Passengers boarding the flight with enthusiasm
The first batch of pilgrims, comprising 630 people from different parts of the Kashmir region, boarded a specially arranged flight to Saudi Arabia. During this enthusiasm and reverence was visible on the faces of all the pilgrims, during this the pilgrims wore a simple white garment known as Ihram.

A pilgrim going on Haj said, “We will pray for peace in Jammu and Kashmir and the whole world during Haj.” Haj pilgrimage is one of the five pillars of Islam, which is an obligation for all physically and financially able Muslims to perform at least once in their lifetime. The yatra includes several important religious rituals that follow in the footsteps of the Prophet Muhammad. That is why this holy journey is considered very important in Islam.

The airport staff was fully prepared to provide assistance and guidance to the pilgrims as well as ensure speedy verification of travel documents. The Haj Committee of India has arranged two direct flights daily for pilgrims from Jammu and Kashmir with the last flight on June 22. Thousands of people from different states of India go on Haj pilgrimage every year.
