According to the report of The Canadian Press, the government led by PM Justin Trudeau in Canada has decided to deport 700 Indian students from their country and send them back to India. Actually, all these students are accused of taking admission through fake offer letters. In this connection, Lovepreet Singh, a resident of Punjab, was first deported from there and soon after that there is a plan to send a dozen more students back to India.

The announcement of the Canadian government mentions about 700 students from India, so those students have sat on a dharna outside the headquarters of the Canada Border Service Agency (CBSA) and near the Mississauga airport. According to media reports, the number of Indian students studying in Canada has increased in the last few years, most of which are from the Punjab province. Every year about 2.5 lakh Indian students go to study in Canada and other countries and Punjabi students form a major part of them. One such student, Lovepreet Singh, went to Mississauga in September 2017 to pursue management at Lambton College. Now he has been sent back from there. After which Lovepreet tweeted that “many travel agents are cheating Indian students and making fake documents for them”.

Lovepreet said, ‘I was also cheated. An agent refused me to contact the college where admission was given and then later I was asked to shift to another college. Now I have been expelled from there’ According to Lovepreet, it was very suspicious and later it was found that my documents were not visible in the college system and the immigration letters were also fake. He said, “There are many travel agents who are duping students like this.”

‘Will make Foreign Minister S Jaishankar aware of the matter’
On this matter, Punjab NRI Affairs Minister Kuldeep Singh Dhaliwal has sought intervention of External Affairs Minister (EAM) S Jaishankar in the matter. He said- We want to meet the Indian Foreign Minister and bring the whole matter to the notice of the Government of India, so that the future of the students is not in danger because they have been cheated by fraudsters.
