WTC Final, IND vs AUS: The Indian team is playing the final match of the World Test Championship against Australia at the Oval ground in London. In this match which started on June 7, Team India won the toss and decided to bowl first. Captain Rohit Sharma decided to play four fast bowlers in the team after seeing the green grass pitch and condition. The Indian captain chose only spinner in the playing XI as Jadeja. Now, his decision seems to be going wrong.
In the initial first hour of the match, captain Rohit Sharma appeared very happy with the condition and team’s fast bowlers Mohammed Shami and Siraj. But for some time the sun shone and there was a big change in the conditions of the game. In the very first hour, Siraj showed Australian opener Usman Khawaja the way to the pavilion without opening an account.
Then after the sun came out, the Australian team caught the rhythm. First David Warner spent some time at the crease. Warner played an inning of 43 runs. After this, Steve Smith and Travis Head, batting at number four and five, added 251 * runs for the fourth wicket, taking care of the power. Both the batsmen returned unbeaten at the end of the day. Ashwin’s gap?
During this, the fast bowlers could not do anything special and somewhere the Indian team started missing number one Test spinner Ashwin. Fast bowlers Shardul Thakur and Umesh Yadav proved to be expensive. Shardul got a breakthrough, while Umesh Yadav could not even take a wicket on the first day. Australian batsmen scored comfortably against both the bowlers. Travis Head reached 146 * and Smith 95 * by the end of the day.
Meanwhile, former Australian captain Ricky Ponting criticized Team India for dropping Ashwin. Ricky Ponting said, “India has fallen into the trap of choosing an attack for the first innings of this Test match.” I was surprised to keep Ashwin out because Australia have many left-handed batsmen. There is no doubt in my mind that Ashwin will bowl much better than Jadeja later in the Test.”
