Huge demand for Khadi and its products, sales of Rs 1,34,623 crore in 2022-23


Khadi India Record Sales: In recent years, there has been a tremendous demand for products related to Khadi, especially after the Modi government came to power. The result of this is that in the last nine financial years, there has been a tremendous growth of 332 percent in the sale of indigenous Khadi products made by artisans in rural areas. In the financial year 2013-14, where the business of Khadi and village industry products used to be Rs 31154 crore, it has increased to the level of Rs 1,34,630 crore in the financial year 2022-23.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi He himself has been the biggest brand ambassador of Khadi and its related products. He has been continuously advocating for the promotion of Khadi. As a result, for the first time the business of KVIC products has crossed Rs 1.34 lakh crore. Similarly, KVIC has also created 9,54,899 new jobs in rural areas.

Khadi and Village Industries Commission Chairman Manoj Kumar said that Prime Minister Modi has promoted Khadi from every platform in the country and abroad, due to which today Khadi has reached a new peak of popularity. Today Khadi products are counted among the most trusted brands in the world. In the financial year 2013-14 to 2022-23, where there was an increase of 268 percent in the production of Khadi and Village Industries products, the sales touched the figure of 332 percent, breaking all records. Which shows that the trust of the people of the country has increased on Make in India, vocal for local and indigenous products.

In the financial year 2013-14, where the production of Khadi and village industry products was Rs 26,109 crore, in the financial year 2022-23, it reached Rs 95957 crore with a jump of 268 percent. In the last 9 years, there has been an unprecedented growth in the production of Khadi clothes. In the financial year 2013-14, where the production of Khadi clothes was Rs 811 crore, with a jump of 260 per cent, it reached the figure of Rs 2916 crore in the financial year 2022-23, which is the best performance till date.

The demand for Khadi clothes has also increased rapidly. In the financial year 2013-14, where its sales were only Rs 1081 crore, in the financial year 2022-23, with a jump of 450 percent, it reached Rs 5943 crore. After Kovid-19, the demand for organic clothes has increased all over the world. Due to this, the demand for Khadi clothes is also increasing rapidly.

Due to Khadi, success has also been achieved in providing maximum employment opportunities in rural areas. In the financial year 2013-14, where 5,62,521 new jobs were created, in the financial year 2022-23 it increased by 70 percent to reach 9,54,899. Since the financial year 2013-14, their remuneration has increased by more than 150 percent. Recently, the remuneration of Khadi artisans has been increased by more than 33 per cent with effect from April 1, 2023.

On 2 October 2022, the sale of KVIC’s flagship Khadi Bhavan at Connaught Place, New Delhi broke all previous records. On the appeal of PM Modi, those who like Khadi created a new record by purchasing Khadi and village industry products worth Rs 1.34 crore for the first time in a single day.
