Loksabha Election: After the defeat in Karnataka, BJP is alert about the Lok Sabha elections. In view of this, Home Minister Amit Shah and BJP National President JP Nadda will visit the southern states. Meanwhile, former AIADMK MP V. Maitreyan also joined BJP on Friday (June 09).

Senior BJP leader Shah will go on a tour of Tamil Nadu and Andhra Pradesh from June 10. At the same time, BJP President JP Nadda will also visit Tirupati in Andhra Pradesh. Both the leaders will address public meetings under BJP’s programs on the occasion of completion of nine years of Modi government.

What is the programme?
A public meeting of Amit Shah will be held in Visakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh. BJP national president JP Nadda will also hold a huge public meeting in Srikalahasti. Recently, Shah met Telugu Desam Party (TDP) leader N Chandrababu Naidu in Delhi. After their meeting, there is speculation in political circles whether BJP will join hands with TDP. The state’s ruling party YSR Congress has so far been supporting the central government on major issues.

How many Lok Sabha seats are there in South?
There are 131 Lok Sabha seats in five southern states and two union territories. Of these, 39 are in Tamil Nadu, 20 in Kerala, 28 in Karnataka, 25 in Andhra Pradesh, 17 in Telangana, one in Puducherry and one in Lakshadweep.

In these seats, BJP has 27 Lok Sabha seats in Karnataka and four in Telangana. After the victory of Congress in Karnataka elections, it is believed that there are many difficulties in front of BJP. Although the party does not want to leave any stone unturned to make its inroads.

In view of this, the BJP is continuously emphasizing on the symbolic importance of the southern states. Be it Sengol in the new parliament or the new headquarters of the Bharatiya Janata Party’s Delhi unit being built on Deendayal Upadhyaya (DDU) Marg, a glimpse of the architecture of South Indian temples.
