Sri Lanka Squad For 2023 ODI World Cup: Sri Lanka Cricket Board has announced its 15-member team for the 2023 ODI World Cup to be played in India this year. In this team, ‘Junior Malinga’ i.e. Mathisha Pathirana, who performed brilliantly for Chennai Super Kings in IPL 2023, has also got a place. At the same time, senior batsman Angelo Mathews has not been included in the World Cup team.
Sri Lankan team will play first qualifier round
Significantly, the Sri Lankan team could not directly reach the 2023 ODI World Cup. Only eight teams have qualified directly in the mega event. In such a situation, Sri Lanka will have to play the first qualifying round. The matches of the qualifiers will be played in Zimbabwe from 18 June. Apart from Sri Lanka, West Indies is also a big team, which could not directly enter the main round of the World Cup.
