Kota reached second place in Rajasthan in case of eye donation, campaign started in 2011

Eye Donation Campaign: Kota is second in Rajasthan in terms of Eye Donation. Along with blood donation in Kota, excellent work is also being done on eye donation. Eye donation started in Kota in the year 2011 and the first cornea was brought. After that the small plant has become a banyan tree today. The work of spreading light started from Kota has now reached village Dhani. The entire Hadoti division is now known for eye donation. Shine India Foundation and Netrajyoti Mitras have an important role in this work, who are ready to take cornea for 24 hours.

Expert Dr. Kulwant Goud says that it takes only 15 to 20 minutes to take a person’s cornea. Everyone can donate eyes from children to the elderly. Eye cornea is kept in 4 to 8 degree Celsius temperature and sent to Eye Bank Society. Cornea remains safe for 3 to 4 days in special liquid. No fee is charged in this process.

Who can donate eyes
Disease-free eyes (cornea) of a person of any age can be used for transplant. The cornea of the person who died due to accidental accident, heart attack or paralysis is considered to be the best. Eye donation can also be taken from a person suffering from blood pressure, diabetes, asthma or heart disease. But in case of death due to septicemia, viral infection, poisoning, drowning, suicide by hanging, burning or long fever, syphilis, TB, AIDS, etc., the cornea of the person’s eyes is not used for transplantation.

Eye donation how and when
The cornea of a deceased person can be obtained within 6 hours. If the information for eye donation is sent by telephone to the eye-hospital, eye fund or the home of a prominent government eye specialist, then a doctor of the eye department or a trained eye bank technician will go to the home and collect the eye. The sooner the cornea is removed after a person’s death, the better it is for transplant.
