Somalia Terrorist Attack: A major terrorist attack took place in Somalia’s capital Mogadishu on Friday (June 9), in which 9 people, including three soldiers, were killed, while 10 people were injured. Somalia’s police has confirmed this incident. Terrorists attacked a hotel located on the seashore on Friday night, after which there was chaos.

According to the Reuters report, after the attack, firing between the security forces and the terrorists went on for about six hours. Police said in a statement that six civilians and three soldiers were among those killed at the Pearl restaurant. Additionally, Abdikadir Abdirahman, director of the Amen ambulance service, said that his group had evacuated 20 injured people from the scene. Al-Shabaab, a jihadist organization affiliated with Al Qaeda, has claimed responsibility for the attack. The hotel has been sealed after this terrorist incident.

Regarding this incident, the Somali National News Agency said on Twitter that the security forces have successfully killed the Al-Shabaab terrorists responsible for the terrorist attack. On Saturday, police said al-Qaeda-linked jihadists have been waging an insurgency against the internationally-backed federal government for nearly 15 years. They often target hotels that host Somali elites and foreign officials.

Earlier in October last year, al-Shabaab terrorists attacked a hotel in Mogadishu, the capital of Somalia. In that attack also 9 people were killed, while more than 40 people were injured. Al-Shabaab has carried out many horrific explosions in the city of Mogadishu before. The terrorist organization Al-Shabaab was established in 2006. Since then, this terrorist organization regularly carries out incidents in Somalia.
