Cricket in Olympics: Will the game of cricket be included in the Summer Olympics to be held in Los Angeles in the year 2028? The answer to this question will be taken in the 141st session of the International Olympic Committee (IOC) to be held in Mumbai from October 15 to 17. The opening ceremony of this meeting will be held on October 14 at Jio World Center (JWC). According to the statement on the official website of the IOC, before this session, a meeting of the IOC Executive Board will be held from 12 to 14 October.

In a statement given to Times India regarding the IOC meeting, a source said that if cricket is included in the 2028 Summer Olympics. It will be announced in a grand manner in the Mumbai session. A decision will be taken before this, but anything official will be announced in this session only.

ICC proposes 6-team event in Olympics

To include cricket in the Olympics, a 6-team event has been proposed by the ICC. It will include both women’s and men’s teams. The matches of this event of T20 format will take about 3 hours to complete.

Cricket was included in the Paris Games in the year 1900. After this 128 years have passed but cricket has not been included in the Olympics. Given the popularity of cricket, the IOC may decide to include it. If cricket is included, it will also see a threefold increase in the earnings through media rights. BCCI is also supporting the move of ICC to include cricket in the Olympics. Jay Shah, secretary of the Board of Control for Cricket in India, is a member of the ICC Olympic Working Group.
