West Bengal Panchayat Election 2024: Panchayat election dates have been announced in West Bengal. When the nomination started with the announcement of the date, the news of violence has also started coming from different areas of the state. Congress worker was shot dead in Murshidabad. Leader of the Opposition in the state and BJP MLA Suvendu Adhikari has alleged a breakdown of law and order. Describing the police force in the state as insufficient, the officer demanded deployment of a paramilitary force.
Along with the announcement of Panchayat elections, the BJP raised questions regarding its dates. Now after the violence started between nominations, Suvendu Adhikari has once again reiterated his point. The BJP leader told ANI, there is 42,000 police force, 70,000 booths and the state wants to hold elections in a single day. We hope that after the order from the High Court, elections will be conducted in the state under the leadership of paramilitary forces. After that we will make them taste the fun.
BJP has filed a petition in the High Court
The BJP has filed a petition in the Calcutta High Court regarding the panchayat elections, demanding the deployment of paramilitary forces, installation of CCTVs at all booths during the panchayat elections. The BJP has accused the state’s ruling Trinamool Congress of indulging in violence and preventing its candidates from nominations.
BJP MP Dilip Ghosh said, the bloodshed started from the very first day of nominations. Murder took place, many people were injured, shots were fired at many places. A pistol was recovered from those who were caught. They are all TMC leaders.
TMC rejected the allegations
TMC MP Kunal Ghosh told ANI, Our supremo Mamta ji and Abhishek Banerjee have clearly told that we want elections in a completely peaceful and democratic manner. If any of our candidate and any leader does any illegal work to win the election or to increase the margin, then the party will take the strictest action against him.
