Wrestlers Protest Update: The protesting wrestlers say that the government is trying to save the Wrestling Federation of India (WFI) chief and BJP MP from Uttar Pradesh Brijbhushan Sharan Singh. The wrestlers, led by Olympic medalists Sakshi Malik, Bajrang Punia and Vinesh Phogat, said they would not end their protest until Singh was put behind bars.
Sports Minister Anurag Thakur had assured on June 7 that a charge sheet would be filed against Brij Bhushan by June 15, following which the wrestlers called off their agitation. Wrestlers have been demanding his arrest ever since they resumed their agitation against the outgoing WFI chief at Delhi’s Jantar Mantar on April 23.

Vinesh further said “I can’t tell you how long our protest will go on, the day Brij Bhushan is arrested we will also end our protest. If justice is delayed then what is the use. Our fight may end one day But the country’s elderly citizens are still fighting.”
