Little India, this state of America, Indians doubled in 10 years, Hindus are the most educated


Hinduism in USA: The number of followers of Hinduism is increasing in America (USA), the largest Christian country. Now there are more than 30 lakh Hindus in America. Their population doubled in the last decade and a half, and there a state Texas has emerged as a ‘Little India’. Hindus living in Texas are more educated than other religions. Also, about 20% of the business there is also in their hands.

According to the Hindu American Foundation, the growing presence of Hindus in America, the world’s third largest country by population, is not limited to demographic changes, but Hindus are becoming increasingly politically active there as well. Texas, the southern state of America, has been friendly to Hindus. Indians from the northern and eastern states of America such as New York, Washington, Boston and Chicago have explored more possibilities in Texas.

Here the world’s eighth largest Hindu population
There were 2.30 lakh Indians in Texas in 2010, which increased to about 4.50 lakh in 2020. That is, in just 10 years the population of Indians doubled here. The United States of America has the eighth largest Hindu population in the world, including the state of Texas; 10% of Asian Americans, who together make up 5.8% of the US population, are followers of Hinduism. The majority of Hindus in the US are immigrants (87%), and 9% are children of immigrants and 10% are Hindu converts.

The reach of Hindus is also increasing in politics
The influence of Hindus in the American state can be gauged from the fact that 20% of the total business in Texas is owned by Indians. There the access of Hindus is increasing in technology, school, finance, culture and even in politics. More than half of the Indians in Texas are in 3 sectors. And, those sectors are- Computer Science-STEM, Management and Healthcare.

Yoga and meditation grew in popularity
Hindus are also in top positions in many big companies of America, apart from this, the popularity of yoga and meditation has also increased in recent years. Now about 36 million Americans do yoga and 18 million people meditate. Mahendra Juneja of Texas says that in the coming times, the Indian diaspora will further strengthen its presence in every area there.
