Taimur Ali Khan, a spokesman for the Provincial Disaster Management Authority, said that 15 people were killed in Bannu district after the storm hit four districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province late on Saturday (June 10), reports AFP. Which includes five siblings aged two to 11 years. According to Timur Ali, more than 140 people are injured due to heavy rains.

Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif expressed grief

According to reports, many houses have collapsed due to the rains. Trees have been uprooted, electric poles have been broken. In such a situation, relief and rescue work is going on in the rain-affected areas. Regarding the incident, Prime Minister of Pakistan Shahbaz Sharif has expressed deep sorrow over the death of the people. Along with this, the officials have been instructed to speed up the relief and rescue work.

Last year flood caused havoc

According to Taimur Ali Khan, this heavy rain has so far caused a lot of damage in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Punjab province. According to the report, so far more than 200 animals have died in the storm. In a village in Khusab district of Punjab, three girls were crushed to death when the wall of their house collapsed. Relief officer Khatir Ahmed said that immediate relief is being provided to the injured.

Significantly, due to the rains and floods during the monsoon last year, more than 1,700 people died in Pakistan. In Sindh province, a statement from the Provincial Disaster Management Authority said that it has warned of extremely heavy rainfall and winds of up to 100 kilometers per hour this weekend.
