Lancet Survey: Be it obesity or diabetes, hypertension or heart disease. Our wrong lifestyle is becoming a major reason behind all this. Due to wrong lifestyle and negligence of food and drink, the risk of many serious diseases is increasing rapidly. In such a situation, the report of a study published in Lancet Diabetes and Endocrinology Journal presents many figures in this regard. According to this nationwide research, a total of 11.4 percent people of our country are suffering from diabetes and on the other hand, 35.5 percent of the country’s population has suffered from hypertension, which is also known as high BP.
Obesity is increasing rapidly in the country
Let us tell you that the Madras Diabetes Research Foundation got this study done in collaboration with the Indian Council of Medical Research ie ICMR and other non-governmental medical institutions. It has been found that the number of people suffering from obesity in India has increased very fast and now this figure has reached 28.6 percent of the total in the country. As health experts say, obesity means overweight has been considered the main cause of both diabetes and hypertension. Expressing concern over this, medical experts said that if this continues and proper management is not done, then in the coming days The burden of sugar and heart related diseases can increase very fast on the country.
Increased risk of non-communicable diseases
It has been said in this study that from 2008 to 2020, this survey was done in 31 states of the country. 1.1 lakh people were included in this survey. The conclusion of this survey says that the risk of non-communicable diseases (NCD) has increased rapidly in the country. Talking about NCDs, such diseases come in this category which do not spread through infection, bacteria or any other means.
15.3 percent people are pre diabetic
Diabetes and hypertension are said to be the most important of these diseases. Both these diseases are spreading rapidly all over the world. In India too, their speed is very fast. According to the Lascent survey, 15.3 percent of the people of the country have pre-diabetes. In general language, these people are prone patients of diabetes, that means these people may get diabetes early in future.
