India vs Australia, WTC Final 2023: In the World Test Championship (WTC) final match played between India and Australia, both teams were fined by the ICC for slow over-rate. After the defeat in the final match, this fine was announced on both the teams like the ICC. In this match, the Australian team defeated the Indian team by 209 runs and won the test championship mace.
After this fine imposed by the ICC, now former England captain Michael Vaughan has given a different suggestion by tweeting. According to Vaughan, the ICC should impose a penalty of 20 runs per over for slow over rate. After the match, the ICC fined the Indian team 100 percent of the match fee, while the Australian team was fined 80 percent.
Michael Vaughan wrote in his tweet that fine will not work. Runs should be awarded to the team batting at the end of the day. A penalty of 20 runs per over should be imposed.
Fines don’t work .. So Runs awarded to the Batting team at the end of the days play could be the only way .. 20 runs per over .. https://t.co/2YTYMaCax7

According to the ICC Code of Conduct, according to Article 2.22, players are fined 20 percent of the match fee for every less over. At the same time, Indian team’s opening batsman Shubman Gill had to pay 115 percent of his match as fine. An additional 15 per cent was imposed on Gill for expressing his displeasure to the umpire over his wicket.
