But now after the Mahapanchayat of Hindus, the Muslims have also announced to hold the Mahapanchayat. Here a mahapanchayat has been called by the Muslim community on 18th June.
In fact, since May 26, at least 42 Muslim shops are allegedly closed in Purola. Communal tension prevailed in Purola and some other towns of Uttarkashi district after two men allegedly tried to abduct a Hindu girl. One of the accused was a Muslim. It has claimed that Muslims living in Purola for generations are being ‘harassed’ by anti-social elements and are being forced to flee the city.
What did CM Dhami say?
After the incident on May 26, if sources are to be believed, posters were put up on Muslim shops. In the poster, the people of the Muslim community were warned to leave the city. However, the district administration has not given permission for the Hindu Mahapanchayat to be held on June 15. While Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami said, “Outsiders have tried to vitiate the atmosphere in Devbhoomi. Hindu mahapanchayat has been convened on June 15 after frequent cases of love jihad came to the fore. There is a lot of protest among people in Uttarkashi region. Special Efforts are being made to vitiate the atmosphere of Uttarakhand through the people of the community.”
CM Dhami had given instructions to the police department regarding the Hindu Mahapanchayat. He has said that under no circumstances should the law and order situation in Uttarakhand deteriorate. However, due to this mahapanchayat, the political temperature in the state has risen. On the other hand, Asaduddin Owaisi said, “The mahapanchayat to be held on June 15 should be banned immediately. Security should be provided to the people living there. Arrangements should be made to bring back the people who have fled from there.” But now the preparations for the Muslim Mahapanchayat against the Hindu Mahapanchayat have also started.
