Fire broke out near security check at Kolkata airport


Kolkata Airport Fire Update: A fire broke out inside Kolkata’s airport on Wednesday (June 14) night. Two fire engines reached the spot after airport officials arrived to evacuate all the passengers from inside the terminal. According to officials, the fire has been brought under control.

There is a possibility of fire due to short circuit. The fire broke out at around 9.12 am, after which an atmosphere of panic was created among the passengers. Officials said that there was no information about any casualty in the incident.

Statement of Airport Authority of India

According to the Airport Authority of India, Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose International (NSCBI) Airport Kolkata, there was a minor fire and smoke at check-in area portal D around 9.12 pm. It was brought under control by 9.40 pm. All passengers were evacuated safely and the process has been suspended due to the presence of smoke in the check-in area. Operations have now resumed.
