The SDM of Dwarka has told that there has been a change in the direction of the cyclone, due to which its impact on Dwarka may be less visible.

Dwarka’s SDM Parth Talsania said that “There has been a change in the direction of the cyclone since last evening. The cyclone which was earlier going to move closer to Dwarka has now turned slightly towards the west. Now Dwarka may be less affected. We We are fully prepared. We have shifted around 4,500 people to safe shelter homes across the district. One team each of NDRF is present in both Dwarka and Okha.”

The state government has evacuated around 37,800 people living near the sea in eight districts as the powerful cyclone ‘Biparjoy’ headed towards Kutch district of Gujarat. According to the Meteorological Department (IMD), the powerful cyclone can reach Jakhau port in the evening of 15 June. According to information provided by IMD, “VSCS (Very Severe Cyclonic Storm) ‘Biparjoy’ over Arabian Sea lay centered about 280 km WSW from Jakhau port at 2.30 am Indian Standard Time (IST) on June 14, moving north-northwestwards. Damage can happen at these places
Earlier, IMD had told that Cyclone ‘Biparjoy’ may cause damage at many places and Gujarat’s Kutch, Devbhoomi Dwarka and Jamnagar districts may be most affected by it. The work of evacuating people has started only after this warning. According to the IMD, the cyclone is likely to make landfall between Mandvi in Kutch and Karachi in Pakistan near Jakhau port with wind speed of 125-135 kmph gusting to 150 kmph in the evening of June 15.
