Wrestler Protest News: The Delhi Police is likely to file a charge sheet on Thursday in the case registered against the outgoing chief of the Wrestling Federation of India (WFI) Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh for sexual harassment by women wrestlers. The officers provided this information.

Union Sports Minister Anurag Thakur had met Olympic medalist wrestlers Bajrang Punia and Sakshi Malik on June 7 and assured the protesting wrestlers that a charge sheet would be filed by June 15 in the case. Despite this assurance, the wrestlers had stopped their demonstration. A senior police officer said, “Since the minister has assured the wrestlers that the charge sheet will be filed in the case by June 15 (Thursday), we will follow it.”

Delhi Police has asked for information
Officials said that in the course of the investigation, the Delhi Police has written letters to wrestling associations/federations of five other countries seeking information regarding the alleged incidents of sexual harassment by Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh, but their reply is awaited. Officials said that after receiving the reply, a supplementary charge sheet would be filed. He told that a notice has been issued requesting to provide photos and videos of the tournament, CCTV footage etc. of the places where the wrestlers stayed during the match.

The Special Investigation Team has questioned more than 180 people. The police team also went to the residence of BJP MP Brij Bhushan in Gonda, Uttar Pradesh. Where he recorded the statement of MP’s relatives, colleagues, domestic staff and their associates. On the other hand, if sources are to be believed, Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh’s family members will not contest the upcoming elections of the federation, despite their eligibility. Significantly, elections for WFI President, Senior Vice President, four Vice Presidents, General Secretary, Treasurer, two Joint Secretaries and five executive members will be held on July 6.
