Cyclone Biparjoy Landfall: India Meteorological Department (IMD) director Dr. Mrityunjay Mohapatra has given the latest information regarding Cyclone Biparjoy. IMD director said at around 2 am on Thursday (June 15) night that Cyclone Biparjoy moved north east and crossed Saurashtra-Kutch adjoining Pakistan coast near Jakhau port in Gujarat. During this the wind speed was 115 to 125 km per hour. The cyclone has now moved from sea to land and is centered towards Saurashtra-Kutch.
He said, “Its speed is gradually decreasing. On the morning of June 16, the speed will further weaken. Then its speed will be 75 to 85 km per hour. Its center will be over Saurashtra-Kutch. After this, it will move in the direction of North East and will remain concentrated in the region of South Rajasthan and North Gujarat till evening. Its speed will decrease. Then its speed will be 40 to 50 kilometers per hour. There will be heavy rains in Rajasthan on June 17 as well.
heavy rain with strong winds
Due to Cyclone Biparjoy, there is heavy rain with strong winds in Kutch, Dwarka, Morbi and other areas of Gujarat. The cyclone had hit Kutch district on Thursday (June 15) evening. The IMD had said that the process of hitting the cyclone started late in the evening and this process would be completed by midnight.

Agencies have been put on alert to deal with the challenges of the cyclone. Earlier in the day, the IMD had said that the cyclone would bring heavy rains and 2-3 meter high waves could rise in the sea. Due to which there is a possibility of flood in the low-lying areas of Kutch, Devbhoomi Dwarka, Porbandar, Jamnagar and Morbi districts during the cyclone collision.
Jawans gear up to meet the challenges of cyclone
Apart from the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) and State Disaster Response Force (SDRF), personnel from the Army, Air Force, Navy, Indian Coast Guard and Border Security Force (BSF) also geared up for relief and rescue operations, officials said. Is. 15 teams of NDRF and 12 teams of SDRF have been deployed for relief and rescue operations.
More than one lakh people were taken to safer places
More than one lakh people have been evacuated from eight coastal districts of Gujarat. People have been taken to safe shelters. Gujarat Relief Commissioner Alok Pandey told that about 22 people have been injured due to the storm. There is no news of anyone’s death so far. 23 animals have died. 524 trees have fallen. Electric poles have also fallen at some places, due to which there is power failure in 940 villages.
