Kutch will be affected the most, collector told when the storm will make landfall


Cyclone Biparjoy Landfall: Cyclonic storm Biparjoy is moving from the Arabian Sea towards the Gujarat coast. It is expected to make landfall in the next few hours. The maximum effect of the storm is going to be in Kutch and Saurashtra. Kutch Collector Amit Arora has told that the super cyclone can make landfall between 4-5 pm. 46 thousand people have been evacuated and sent to shelter homes.

The Collector told ANI that along with 46 thousand people, more than 20 thousand cattle have also been shifted to a safer place. Adequate quantity of ration is available in all the shelter homes. 50 teams have been kept ready for road clearance.

How far is the storm?

Cyclone Biparjoy is currently 165 km from Jakhau port, 195 km from Dwarka, 195 km from Naliya, 275 km from Porbandar, 255 km from Karachi (Pakistan). Strong winds are blowing in the coastal areas including Mandvi, Dwarka. It is also raining heavily.

The storm is expected to hit around Saurashtra, Kutch and Jakhau Port. On hitting the coast, the wind speed can reach 115 kmph to 120 kmph. Waves up to 2.5 meters high can rise in the sea.

CM Bhupendra Patel took the meeting

Gujarat CM Bhupendra Patel held a review meeting regarding cyclone ‘Biparjoy’ at the State Emergency Operation Center in Gandhinagar. According to the Jamnagar Airport Director, the airport has issued a notice for June 14, 15 and 16, according to which all flight movements are suspended from 1:30 pm to 4:00 pm.
