72-hour ceasefire in Sudan, both sides agree to provide humanitarian aid


Sudan Violence: Amidst the ongoing violence in Sudan, a respite is coming. Here the ongoing conflict between the armed forces and the paramilitary Rapid Support Force (RSF) has stopped for a few hours. In fact, both sides have agreed for a new ceasefire of 72 hours. The ceasefire will start at 6 am on June 18 and will continue till June 21. This was confirmed by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Saudi Arabia.

Saudi Arabia’s Foreign Ministry tweeted that representatives of the Sudanese Armed Forces (SAF) and Rapid Support Force (RSF) have agreed to a 72-hour ceasefire across Sudan from June 18. Both sides agreed that the movement of people would continue during the ceasefire. Both sides have also agreed to allow movement and delivery of humanitarian aid across the country. Much needed help will be provided in the country.

71 children died in the orphanage

Just last Saturday (June 17), 17 people, including five children, were killed in an airstrike in southern Khartoum. Earlier it was reported that 71 children have died due to hunger and disease since April in an orphanage in Sudan. After which at least 300 children from the orphanage were taken to safer places.

Struggle continues from 15 April

At least 958 people have been killed, while 4,746 others have been injured since clashes between the Sudanese army and the paramilitary Rapid Support Forces first began on April 15, according to information provided by the Sudanese Doctors’ Union. Significantly, the conflict between the army and the paramilitary Rapid Support Force in Sudan has been going on since April 15. When violence broke out in Sudan after fighting between Sudanese army leader Abdel Fattah al-Burhan and his deputy paramilitary RSF commander Mohamed Hamdan Daglo.
