Pakistan: Pakistan’s Shehbaz government has bowed to several demands of a hardline Islamist party, agreeing to prosecute blasphemy suspects under sections of the Penal Code (PPC) as well as terrorism charges Is.

Significantly, Tehreek-e-Labbaik Pakistan (TLP) was protesting for its demands. Shahbaz government was not agreeing to the demands of the radical Islamic party amid the ruckus going on for almost a month. But now an agreement has been reached between the government and the TLP. Giving information, Pakistan’s Home Minister Rana Sanaullah has said that the government has accepted all the legitimate demands of TLP especially on the blasphemy laws. These include the demand to make the blasphemy law more effective.

Section of terror in blasphemy cases

After the agreement, the protest has ended in Sarai Alamgir in Gujarat district, about 200 km from Lahore. In a 12-point agreement signed with the TLP on Saturday, the federal government agreed to prosecute those accused of blasphemy. He will be charged with Section 295-C (use of derogatory remarks etc. in relation to the Holy Prophet) of the Pakistan Penal Code of the Anti-Terrorism Act.

Government will take strict steps regarding blasphemy

Rana Sanaullah further said that speed trial of those accused of blasphemy will be ensured in Pakistan. For the first time, a Counter Blasphemy Wing (CBW) will be set up under the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA). Along with this, the government will take this step to stop blasphemous content on social media.

According to the Dawn newspaper report, the government of Pakistan has agreed to issue a letter stating that TLP was not a terrorist organization. The government has agreed to withdraw all political cases filed against TLP workers and leaders. The government’s acceptance of TLP’s demands shows that it is a victory for the radical Islamic party.
