Chhattisgarh: ED attaches 81 properties including CM’s deputy secretary, notices to 10


Raipur News: In Chhattisgarh, ED has taken major action in the alleged coal scam case. In this case, the ED has attached 81 out of 91 properties of other accused including Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel’s deputy secretary Soumya Chaurasia, Suryakant Tiwari, IAS Samir Vishnoi. Have done. Apart from this, ordered to vacate the remaining 10 properties. This information was given by ED on Twitter on Wednesday (June 26).

In fact, since October 2022 last year, the ED has taken protracted action in the matter of disturbances in coal transporting and illegal coal levy. 9 people have been arrested in this case. Big businessmen including 2 big officers are involved in this. In this case, on June 1, 2023, the ED attached the properties of the Chief Minister’s Deputy Secretary Soumya Chaurasia, Suryakant Tiwari, IAS Sameer Bishnoi and other accused. The ED has given this information on the official Twitter handle on Wednesday (June 21).

ED has seized assets worth Rs 221 crore

Let us tell you that even before this the ED had seized the properties of these people. In a press release issued by the ED on May 9 last month, it was told that evidence of financial relations of persons involved with businessman Suryakant Tiwari has been found. Attachment action has been taken under PMLA 2002. After this, the ED attached assets worth Rs 170 crore of Suryakant Tiwari, suspended IAS officer Sameer Vishnoi, Saumya Chaurasia, Sunil Agarwal and others. Including all these, a total of Rs 221.5 crore has been seized so far.

Illegal levy of Rs 540 crore in coal – ED

The ED has said that on the basis of the complaint of the Income Tax Department, the investigation of money laundering has been started. In this, searches have been conducted in more than 145 premises and so far 9 accused have been arrested under PMLA. All of them are in judicial custody. Prosecution complaint was filed against Suryakant Tiwari, Saumya Chaurasia, IAS Sameer Vishnoi and others in the Special Court (PMLA) on 9 December 2022 and 30 January 2023. ED’s investigation revealed that proceeds of crime to the tune of Rs 540 crore were generated in this extortion racket. Further action is going on on this.
