US-India Relation: In recent years, China has been trying to increase the infiltration of its army along the Indian border. The latest example of this was seen recently when China tried to occupy some parts of India’s north eastern state of Arunachal Pradesh. Apart from this, China had changed the names of 11 places in Arunachal Pradesh.
At the same time, according to the news agency PTI, America has always taken India’s side on the issue of Arunachal Pradesh. Meanwhile, the Foreign Relations Committee of the US Senate on Wednesday (June 21) presented a bill on a bipartisan resolution declaring Arunachal Pradesh as an integral part of India. This committee will consider one day during PM Modi’s visit to America to discuss the bill.
America condemned China
America’s Foreign Relations Committee has condemned China in the bill. He has criticized the provocative action taken by China on the Line of Actual Control (LAC) in the bill. Apart from this, through a resolution in the US Senate, China has criticized the construction of villages in disputed areas, the publication of maps with Mandarin language names for cities and facilities in Arunachal Pradesh, and the extension of its territorial claims to Bhutan. The bill has been introduced by US Senators Jeff Merkley and Bill Haggerty.
China’s claim on Arunachal Pradesh
China calls Arunachal Pradesh Zangnan and claims it is South Tibet. This claim was rejected by the Ministry of External Affairs, which stated that the state is an integral part of India. China routinely opposes visits by top Indian leaders and officials to Arunachal Pradesh to validate its claims.
At the same time, the bill introduced by the US Senate on this appreciates the steps taken by India to protect itself against aggression and security threats from China.
