Pakistan Higher Education Commission: Some Pakistani leaders have opposed the ban on celebrating Holi in educational institutions of Pakistan. The Higher Education Commission of Pakistan has banned the celebration of Holi in all educational institutions. Pakistan Muslim League (Nawaz) leader and National Assembly member Khyal Das Kohistani has drawn the attention of Pak Education Minister Rana Tanveer to this issue.

Kheyal Das Kohistani tweeted on Wednesday (June 21), “Please note Rana Tanveer Saab, Holi is a festival of colors that spreads love. Quaid-e-Azam had declared respect for religious practices across Pakistan so why is this letter being circulated to hurt the Hindu community? Nawaz Sharif saab as prime minister also celebrated Holi with the community.

On the decision to ban Holi in Pakistan’s universities, Pakistani MP Ramesh Kumar told ABP Live that he would demand the government to withdraw this decision. Let us tell you that the video of Holi being celebrated in a university in Pakistan is going viral on social media. The Pakistan Higher Education Commission objected to this and expressed apprehension of harming the country’s Islamic identity.

What did the Higher Education Commission of Pakistan say?

Pakistan’s Higher Education Commission has asked universities to prudently distance themselves from all such activities. Commission’s executive director Shaista Sohail did not name the said university in a letter to heads of educational institutions. The letter, however, comes days after reports surfaced on social media about Quaid-e-Azam University in Islamabad hosting a Holi event on March 8.

The letter reads, “Unfortunately it is sad to see such activities which are completely different from our socio-cultural values ​​and reflect the loss of Islamic identity of the country.” It said, “One such instance that has raised concerns is the enthusiasm displayed in celebrating the Hindu festival of Holi… A widely publicized incident from a university forum has raised concerns and damaged the image of the country .”
