Finance Ministry rejected the news of giving minimum pension to central employees


Minimum Pension Benefit: The Finance Ministry has denied the news of giving minimum pension to central employees. The Finance Ministry tweeted that it has been reported in several newspapers that the government may come out with a proposal to give minimum pension to its employees under NPS. The Finance Ministry said that this news is completely wrong.

The Finance Ministry said that after the announcement of the Finance Minister in the budget session in the Lok Sabha, a committee has been constituted regarding NPS under the chairmanship of the Finance Secretary. Which is currently continuously discussing with different stakeholders. The Finance Ministry said that the committee has not yet reached any conclusion.

In fact, on Wednesday, it was reported that amidst the growing demand for the old pension scheme, the central government may take a decision to give minimum pension to its employees. The central government can assure the minimum pension of 40 to 45 percent of the last salary of the employees.

Let us tell you that amidst growing opposition to the National Pension Scheme, the Central Government had announced the formation of a committee under the chairmanship of the Finance Secretary in view of the demand for the Old Pension Scheme, which is considering making NPS attractive. It is believed that the central government can make NPS attractive to the employees so that the resentment among the central employees can be reduced.

There is a tussle between the Center and the states ruled by the opposition parties regarding the National Pension Scheme. These days, the employees of the state government including the central government are protesting against the National Pension Scheme and are demanding to restore the old pension scheme.
