Indian Railways has started a special service for passengers traveling in general bogie. If you travel in general bogie, then this special announcement has been made for you. Especially, those who travel for long distances. With this facility, the journey of the passengers will become comfortable.
On behalf of Indian Railways, a mission has been started to make the journey comfortable for the passengers traveling in the front and rear general class coaches of all mail and express trains. To begin with, General Managers of all Zonal Railways have been instructed to make arrangements for availability of cheap food, drinking water and vending trolleys near unreserved coaches at all stoppages.
On Board Housekeeping
On-board housekeeping staff will be deployed at regular intervals for cleaning of coaches to ensure cleanliness and availability of water on board. Train management will have to plan to fill water in toilets of unreserved coaches at watering stations en route. Drinking water booths will also be installed.
Railway Board gave instructions
Jaya Verma Sinha, member, operations and business development, Railway Board, said passenger traffic has increased due to the return summer rush. In such a situation, it has to be ensured whether the traveling passengers are getting basic services in GS coaches or not.
According to a report in The Hindu, the carrying capacity of Integral Coach Factory designed coaches is 90 unreserved general class coaches and 99 for Linke Hofmann Busch coaches. Passengers holding unreserved tickets for a particular destination can travel in any train running in that direction. However, they will have to buy separate tickets for superfast express trains.

The Railway Board said that the passengers who cannot afford the reserved ticket fare, travel with the unreserved bogie. Separate unreserved coaches have been made for women. Food and drink and other basic things will be provided to the passengers traveling on unreserved tickets.
