Transgender Man: Suchetna Bhattacharya, daughter of former West Bengal Chief Minister Buddhadeb Bhattacharya, has said on Friday (June 23) that she is going to become a transgender man soon after undergoing a sex change. She is about to undergo sex change surgery for this. Earlier she had said that she would prefer to be called Suchetan.
According to the news agency PTI, recently Suchetna participated in a conference of the LGBTQ community where he made this point. He said, ‘‘I have often been humiliated because I used to see myself as a man, not a woman, since my teens. I think I am ready for this fight now.’’

He said that he will soon have surgery for gender change. Suchetna told, ‘‘I am grateful to all those who have supported me on social media. I need everyone’s best wishes.’’ Suchetna said that the legal process to change the name and gender in the official identity card would take place before the surgery. There is no response from former Chief Minister Bhattacharya and his wife in this matter.
