This is the world’s most expensive tea, one kg costs $1 million


Tea is produced on a large scale in India.  Because of this it is easily available at a low price. On an average, the cost of one kg of tea is Rs 500. Although there is such a tea in the world, which costs crores of rupees and it is the most expensive tea in the world. This tea is grown in China. 

What is the name of this tea 

The world’s most expensive tea cost $1 million is more than ‍ It is found in the Wuyi Mountains of Fujian Province, China. The last time this tea was harvested in 2005. Its name is Da Hong Pao. The cost of a few grams of it was many times more than the cost of gold. And in 2002 only 20 grams of the precious tea was sold for  180,000 yuan or about $28,000. 

This tea is also life-giving

This Tea has also been declared a national treasure due to its rarity. It is also called life giving tea. This tea is so special that Chairman Mao gifted 200 grams of this tea to the then US President Richard Nixon in 1972 on his official visit to China. In 1849, the British botanist Robert Fortune went on a secret mission to Mount Wuyi. From there it was brought to India. 

This tea is not available in the market 

World’s most expensive tea  Da Hong Pao only Available via auction. This is a rare item, which cannot be bought from the market. This tea was first grown over a decade ago in the Ya’an Mountains of Sichuan, China by an entrepreneur and panda enthusiast. The first batch of 50 grams was sold for $3,500 (Rs 2.90 lakh), making it one of the most expensive teas ever. 

What is the history of this tea 

Considering the history of Da Hong Pao tea, its cultivation started during the Ming Dynasty of China. Chinese people believe that at that time the queen of Ming rule had suddenly become ill.  He was advised to drink this tea due to his deteriorating health. After drinking this tea, she completely recovered. After this the king had ordered to grow it in the entire state. The tea leaf was named Da-Hong Pao after the king’s long gown.
