You hear about RAM and ROM, but how much do you understand? Know what is the difference

You often hear about RAM and ROM while buying or using a smartphone. But have you noticed what these two terms are. RAM (Random Access Memory) and ROM (Read-Only Memory) are both types of computer memory, but there are some important differences between them. Come, let’s discuss those differences here.

Nature

RAM: It is Volatile Memory, ie the data stored in it is subject to power supply. Removes without deleting.
ROM: It is non-volatile memory, in which the stored data is permanently saved.

Stored data

RAM: It restores programs and data. It keeps the computer’s content ready so that the computer can use it immediately. The data stored in it is available for random access.
ROM: It stores pre-stored and necessary data, such as Bootloader, BIOS (Basic Input/Output System), Operating System etc. . The data stored in it can only be read but cannot be edited.

Variability

RAM: Random access and change of data gives permission to do so. Programs can be run and data can be written and erased.
ROM: It gives only read permission for data. The stored data cannot be changed.

Example

RAM: RAM helps the computer’s main memory and programs to operate, such as a collection of applications, operating systems, and themes.
ROM: ROM stores firmware such as the bootloader and BIOS that aid in the initial loading process of a computer.

These differences RAM helps in operating data and temporarily storing computer contents, while ROM stores previously stored and permanent data and helps in the initial loading process of the computer.
