After 76 years from Pakistan, 90 year old ‘Bibi’ reached India to meet her loved ones, know who she is


Pakistan’s Hashmat Bibi in India: Along with getting independence from the British in 1947, India was also partitioned. With that partition, a separate country was created for the Muslims, that is Pakistan. Lakhs of people of both Hindu and Muslim religions had to be displaced due to partition. Thousands of people lost their lives in the bloodshed during that period. Till date, many generations are facing the brunt of partition. One such elderly woman is Bibi Hashmat.

Bibi Hashmat is now 90 years old, and she was separated from her family during the partition of India-Pakistan. After 76 years, Bibi Hashmat has now reached the ancestral land to meet the family. His ancestral land is some distance away from Sutlej river in ‘Ropar district’ of Punjab state. It is said that Bibi Hashmat had gone to live with her maternal grandmother at the age of 14, and at the time of partition, when the maternal grandparents became of Pakistan, she also stayed there with them.

Came on 40 days visa, expressed pain
Bibi Hashmat’s ancestral residence is in Khadoor Sahib, the people there say that Bibi used to talk to some of her close friends from Pakistan on the phone. Finally, after 76 years the wait for Bibi Hashmat was over. She reached Khadoor Sahib from Pakistan this month to meet her family members. A relative told that Bibi Hashmat has got a 40-day visa, and she can spend the same number of days at her nephew Karamdin Khan’s house.

There is an influx of people watching Bibi Hashmat. The day she came from Pakistan, she was welcomed with music and garlands. His relatives got emotional while meeting him. At the same time, Bibi’s eyes also became moist.
