Mukesh has struggled with malnutrition, used to play tennis cricket for Rs 500; Failed in trials

Mukesh Kumar Struggle Story in Hindi: The BCCI announced Team India for the two-match Test series and three-match ODI series against the West Indies on Friday, 23 June. In both these series, fast bowler Mukesh Kumar has been selected. However, his journey till here has been very difficult. Let us know the story of Mukesh’s struggle.

Mukesh Kumar has faced a lot of challenges in his journey to become a cricketer and after being selected in the Indian Test and ODI squads for the West Indies tour, he says his dream is now in front of him.

After being selected in the Test and ODI squads for the upcoming tour of the West Indies, the Bengal fast bowler said, “Kehte nahi agar aap aap Test ko kya khela”. My dream is in front of me now. I always wanted to be here, play Tests for India, and I finally joined the team.

Mukesh’s father Kashinath Singh was against his playing cricket and wanted him to join the CRPF. His father passed away in 2019. Mukesh failed the CRPF exam twice and after representing Bihar’s under-19 team, his cricket career was also not progressing.

He then decided to play ‘Khep’ cricket in Bengal. He used to represent unrecognized clubs in tennis ball cricket, in which he used to get Rs 500 to Rs 5000 for each match.

Mukesh was suffering from malnutrition and also had ‘bone oedema’, in which too much water used to collect in his knee, due to which he could not play the match. However, former Bengal fast bowler Ranadeb Bose changed his life.

In the ‘Vision 2020’ program of Bengal Cricket Association, Bose saw Mukesh’s talent. Though Mukesh failed in the trials, Bose persuaded the then CAB secretary Sourav Ganguly. After this the Sangh took full care of Mukesh’s food and drink and got his MRI done and arranged for his medical expenses.

Then Mukesh made his debut for Bengal against Haryana in 2015-16 and consistently performed brilliantly in domestic cricket. Mukesh, who specializes in bowling accurate yorkers, played for Delhi Capitals in IPL 2023.
