India US Deals: PM Narendra Modi (PM Modi) will return home on Sunday (June 25) night from his state visit to America (US) and Egypt (Egypt). This visit of PM to two countries has been very important. During this, where he made a big deal with America for undertaking missions in the defense sector, space, important MoUs were also signed with Egypt in the field of agriculture and archaeology. PM Modi reached America on Tuesday (June 20). There he held a bilateral meeting with President Joe Biden along with participating in several programs. This was PM Modi’s first state visit to America. During this, India and the US have signed several agreements to promote mutual commerce, technology transfer, semiconductor deals, 5G and 6G telecommunications and joint development of technologies in the field of open source based telecommunication networks, quantum and advanced computing.

US-based computer memory chip maker Micron Technology will set up its semiconductor assembly and testing facility in Gujarat with a total investment of $2.75 billion (Rs 22,540 crore). The two leaders welcomed Lam Research’s proposal to train 60,000 Indian engineers to accelerate semiconductor education and workforce development in India. They also welcomed the announcement of Applied Materials Inc. to invest US$ 400 million to set up a collaborative engineering center.
Indo-US drone deal
Applied Materials Inc. will invest US$400 million to set up a collaborative engineering center. Apart from this, India and the US have signed a deal for 31 ‘High Altitude Long Endurance’ (HEL) drones, of which the Navy will get 15 SeaGuardian drones, while the Army and the Indian Air Force will get eight land variant SkyGuardian drones each.
Big deal done in defense sector
A Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) has also been signed between General Electric (GE) and Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) for joint manufacturing of jet engine F414 between India and the US during PM Modi’s visit. This decision of General Electric Company to make fighter aircraft in India will prove to be a milestone for the defense sector. This historic deal is the most important deal of PM Modi’s visit because America has agreed to give state-of-the-art jet engine technology to India.
The F414 engine will power India’s next generation Tejas 2. The Biden administration has also announced that it will make it easier for Indian workers to obtain and renew US visas. A pilot program will be launched to renew visas domestically.

India-US have also announced a joint astronaut mission for 2024. India has decided to join the Artemis pact and the US space agency NASA (NASA) and the Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO) have agreed to send a joint mission to the International Space Station (ISS) in 2024. The Artemis Alliance brings together like-minded countries on civil space exploration.
Meeting with the President of Egypt
After the visit to America, the PM arrived on a state visit to Egypt on Saturday. This was the first bilateral visit of an Indian Prime Minister to Egypt in 26 years. Prime Minister Modi met Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi in Cairo on Sunday and discussed ways to further strengthen the strategic partnership between the two countries, with emphasis on improving trade and investment and energy ties.

Al-Sisi received PM Modi at the Rashtrapati Bhavan, where the two leaders held a meeting. Prime Minister Narendra Modi And Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi signed a memorandum of understanding between the two countries. Foreign Secretary Vinay Kwatra told that 4 important agreements were signed during Prime Minister Modi’s visit to Egypt. A strategic partnership was signed between the two countries. Apart from this, MoU was also signed regarding the protection and conservation of agriculture sector, monuments.
PM meets prominent Egyptian personalities
Prime Minister Modi met prominent personalities in Egypt, including renowned thinker and petroleum strategist Tarek Heggy, and discussed global geopolitics, energy security, fundamentalism and ways to promote closer cooperation with Indian companies in various sectors. According to a press release issued by the Ministry of External Affairs, issues related to global geopolitics, energy security, radicalism and gender equality were discussed between the two. Sisi also conferred the Order of the Nile (Kiladat El Nil), Egypt’s highest state honor, on the PM.
Prime Minister Modi also met Hasan Allam, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Hasan Allam Holding Company. They discussed possibilities of forging closer cooperation with Indian companies in the renewable energy, green hydrogen, infrastructure and construction sectors. According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Hassan Allam is the leading Egyptian company operating in the West Asia and North Africa region.
