Income Tax Return: The process of filing income tax return for the financial year 2022-23 and assessment year 2023-24 has started. Salaried taxpayers have received Form 16 from their offices to facilitate salaried taxpayers in filing income tax returns. The last date for filing income tax return is 31 July 2023, but from now on, a tremendous increase is being seen in taxpayers filing returns every day.
The Income Tax Department has given this information by tweeting that till June 26, 2023, one crore taxpayers have filed income tax returns. While in the last assessment year 2022-23, by July 8, 2023, one crore taxpayers had filed income tax returns. The tax department said that this milestone has been achieved 12 days earlier as compared to last year.

The Income Tax Department has assured taxpayers that taxpayers’ facilities and ease of filing income tax returns are among its priorities. The Income Tax Department has appealed to taxpayers to maintain this momentum and file income tax returns at the earliest to avoid the rush of filing returns at the last moment.
The last date for filing income tax return for assessment year 2023-24 is 31 July 2023. Most of the taxpayers file income tax return through Income Tax Return Form No. 1. Filing income tax return through ITR Form No. 1 is the easiest. Individual taxpayers whose annual income is less than Rs 50 lakh, which is received from salary, one house property, interest from bank, dividend and annual agricultural income up to Rs 5000, such taxpayers, income tax return through ITR Form No. 1 have to be filled.
