Pakistan team will not come to India! After the World Cup schedule, PCB said – the decision is in the hands of the government

Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) 2023 ODI World Cup India is still apprehensive about sending its team to India, but the International Cricket Council (ICC) is sure that the team captained by Babar Azam will play the 50-over World Cup in India.

The ICC on Tuesday released the schedule of the ODI World Cup to be held from October 5 to November 19. Along with this, PCB’s request to hold Pakistan’s matches against some teams in Chennai and Bengaluru was also turned down. PCB does not want to play Afghanistan on the turning pitch of Chennai and Australia in Bengaluru.

After the announcement of the World Cup schedule, the PCB clearly said that its playing depends on getting approval from the government. A PCB official said, “Our playing in the World Cup and playing in Ahmedabad on October 15 or in Mumbai if we reach the semi-finals depends on the approval from the government.”

While an ICC spokesperson said, all members have to follow the law of their country and we respect it, but we are sure that the Pakistani team will come to India to play the ODI World Cup.

Pakistan last played in India in the 2016 T20 World Cup. Due to the strain in the relations between the two countries, the two teams play each other only in ICC tournaments or Asia Cup.

It was almost certain that Pakistan’s request to move the two matches would be turned down by the BCCI, as it normally accepts such requests only in the event of a security threat.

With the elections for the post of PCB chairman now postponed till July 17, it remains to be seen how the board reacts to the World Cup schedule. After the resignation of Najam Sethi, the interim president Ahmed Shahzad Farooq Rana is looking after the functioning of the board.
