Russia withdraws cases against Wagner chief Yevgeny Prigozhin and his fighters

Russia: The eyes of the whole world are fixed on the current situation in Russia. Meanwhile, it is now reported that charges have been dropped against Yevgeny Prigozhin, head of the Wagner Group who rebelled against Putin, and others involved in the armed rebellion. News agency AFP has confirmed this by tweeting quoting Russian agencies.

According to the report, Russia’s FSB security service has dropped the criminal case against the fighters of the Wangar group who rebelled last week. Significantly, under the agreement to calm the crisis late on Saturday, the Kremlin said that the fighters who took part in the rebellion would not be prosecuted and would be allowed to return to the base.

Putin apologized

In his first address to the nation after the rebels retreated, Putin said he issued the orders to avoid bloodshed. Putin has said he has granted amnesty to Wagner’s soldiers, whose mutiny has posed the biggest challenge to his two decades of rule.

Putin called betrayal

Let us tell that Putin called Prigozhin’s move as ‘traitorous’ and ‘stabbing in the back’. However, Prigogine claimed that he was opposing the commanders leading the war in Ukraine. By doing this, Prigogine tried to present himself as a ‘patriot’.

Please tell that Yevgeny Prigozhin is the chief of the private army Wagner fighting against Ukraine on behalf of Russia. Wagner was once the most trusted man of the Russian President. Its history of leadership with Wagner in Moscow goes back decades. However, this group had just revolted against Putin, which was somehow pacified.
