Redmi 12, the latest mid-size range smartphone of Xiaomi’s sub-brand Redmi, is set to be launched in India soon. The device has already been made official in Thailand, and despite the complex branding of the company’s devices, it has received a simple name. As reported by GizmoChina, it appears to be the successor to last year’s Redmi 11 and has a similar design to the Note 12 series. The good news is that the device may launch in India soon as its software is now finalized for the market.
A balanced mid-range smartphone
The folks at Xiaomiui have spotted the MIUI-V14.0.2.0.TMXINXM software on the official MIUI servers, which suggests that the Redmi 12 is ready for India. It appears that Xiaomi has equipped the Redmi 12 with custom software especially for the Indian market. This build may differ from the build found on the Thai equivalent of the device. In the Indian version of MIUI, users can get language support, localized services and features unique to India.
6.79-inch LCD display
The smartphone (Redmi 12) comes with a 6.79-inch LCD display that offers FHD+ resolution, 90Hz refresh rate, and 550 nits peak brightness. Redmi 12 has triple rear cameras. For photography, the device gets a 50MP main sensor, 8MP ultra-wide lens and a 2MP macro sensor at the back. There is an 8MP selfie shooter on the front.
Battery and RAM
Under the hood, the Redmi 12 is powered by the MediaTek Helio G88 processor, paired with 8GB of RAM and 256GB of internal storage. It has a 5,000mAh battery unit with 18W fast charging support. The 8GB + 128GB variant of the device is priced at THB 5,299 ($148). However, there is no official information about the price of the phone in India yet.
