Big decision of Gorakhpur court in drug smuggling case, 15 years rigorous imprisonment to four accused


UP News: The Gorakhpur court on Friday pronounced a major sentence in the drug smuggling case. Four smugglers have been fined 1.5 lakh with rigorous imprisonment of 15 years.  Narcotics Control Bureau officials said that on June 28, 2021, two smugglers were caught with 140 kg of ganja. The arrested smugglers were identified as Sumit Pal and Mohan Yadav, residents of Etawah. Both the accused were carrying ganja from Assam to Gorakhpur in the truck. Based on the information, the truck was stopped. During the search, a huge consignment of ganja was recovered from the truck. Both the smugglers were arrested from the spot. Both were interrogated after their arrest.

15 years rigorous imprisonment to four accused

In the interrogation, the illegal business of drugs was revealed. The accused told that more people are involved in the drug smuggling business. After the name of the father-son duo surfaced, once again a big action was taken. A huge consignment of ganja was recovered from the house of Shivam Jaiswal and Gopal Jaiswal. Both the accused are residents of Gorakhpur. 106 kg of ganja was seized from the house of Shivam Jaiswal and Gopal Jaiswal. Both were later arrested after the ganja was recovered.

Court pronounces verdict in drug smuggling case

Officials told that one accused of drug smuggling is still absconding. Santosh Chauhan’s name came to the fore during the investigation. Three witnesses were produced during the hearing of the case. Documents related to smuggling were also kept in the court. The lawyer appearing for the case on behalf of NCB told the court that the accused have been involved in smuggling ganja. The court announced the sentence after examining the evidence and witnesses. The four drug peddlers were fined Rs 1.5 lakh along with 15 years rigorous imprisonment.
